How can we better serve the faith formation of the members of our pastorate? How do we handle the different levels of commitment, faith, and formation we encounter amongst our families and members seeking the sacraments? How do begin to move toward a Mission Mindset in the way that we prepare people for baptism, confirmation, communion, reconciliation, and marriage?
Our vision for sacramental preparation and faith formation this next year:
We plan to split the each and every program into two paths to meet the needs of 1) those who just want to receive the sacraments and 2) those who want to dive deeper in their relationship with Jesus.
We will focus on building personal relationships and a culture of invitation. We will avoid drowning people with doctrine, lectures, and passive learning.
We will expect individual responsibility. For those that just want the sacraments, they will be responsible for meeting deadlines and holding themselves accountable. For those who want more, we will encourage and help them take that step for themselves.
What can you expect?
We will begin Faith Formation registrations here in the spring before the end of Religious Education.
Next year families those seeking sacraments will only be obliged to attend once a month.
We will have two or three times available for families to attend throughout the week for the once-a-month obligatory classes.
On the weeks that we don't have the large group meetings. We will offer weekly small groups for all leaders, catechists, and anyone who wants to dive deeper in their relationship with Jesus and their neighbor. These are optional for everyone but leaders.
