My Personal Goals & Objectives

Conversion is an essential part of the Christian Life. "Repent and believe in the Gospel," Were the first words Jesus preached publicly about the coming of the Kingdom of God. As humans we work best when we have goals in mind. Growth, skills, purpose, ideals, and relationships are all types of goals that we might have. Here in our pastorate, beginning with the non-school staff, we are beginning to set down goals and objectives to help us grow, change, and convert. With these goals in place, supervisors, friends, and coworkers can help each other on this path to become saints. To that end, I would like to enlist the help of the entire pastorate in my pursuit of conversion, so I'd like to share my personal growth goals as parochial administrator of Our Lady of Guadalupe Pastorate.

Overall Goal: Grow as a Virtuous Leader
 

• Grow in constancy

  • Focus: Name what I’m working on or doing while working on it to avoid multitasking and to give each task or person my full attention at each moment.
  • Reframe: Recognize when I am in threat mode, pause to reflect/breath/pray, and reach out to a member of the PLT to review decisions while in that mode to avoid decision whiplash.

• Grow in humility
  • Gentleness: Focus on softening and slowing my voice during meetings and presentations to convey the compassion I feel for the people in that meeting.
  • Be Curious: Ask questions at least five times more often than give instructions or even express opinions, thoughts, ideas.
• Grow in accountability
  • Accountability: Keep first myself accountable and then others to decisions that we have made as a team, by admitting mistakes, overcommunication, and serving as chief reminding officer.
  • Empower: Let committed leaders lead, by giving guides rather than instructions.
  • Encourage: Communicate appreciation, evaluation, and coaching clearly to direct reports weekly and monthly to all staff.

It is likely that many of you are looking at this list and thinking, "Oh yeah, I where Father Drew struggles with that!" And that's okay, its not judgment of me, because I admit that these are areas where I am weak, and I'd like the support of you all in growth.

That said, I'd encourage everyone here to consider whether they have goals and objectives for their pursuit of holiness and whether they can find others in this community to help them get there. Above all, please pray for me, our staff, volunteers, and all those who we serve. I promise to pray for you all!
